The dog days of summer are back in Philadelphia.
August is National Dog Month, and Manayunk is celebrating in style with its Dog Day of Summer celebration, set to take place Saturday, Aug. 16, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
What can animal lovers expect? Think pet vendors, pup-centric giveaways, adoptable rescues, custom portraits, splash zones and more. The day, celebrating the neighborhood’s ever growing canine community, will bring a variety of pet-friendly vendors, adoptions, treats, activities, and more, all along Main Street Manayunk.
New for 2025, attendees can raise a pint to pups with the Yards Pints and Paws Passport. Head to participating bars and restaurants for Yards specials, plus collect stamps and be entered to win Yards dog-themed prizes.
“Paws for Cause” is back and expanded for 2025. For the past 12 years, Bennett from The NEW 96.5 has worked with the PSPCA to help pets find loving homes through the Bennett’s Buddies program. This year, “Paws for a Cause” expands that mission with a 3-day live broadcast in partnership with the PSPCA and BluePearl Pet Hospital. Bennett and the PSPCA team will be at Dog Day of Summer broadcasting live from the Richard’s Apex Lot. Animal lovers are invited to stop by, meet adoptable animals, and help raise crucial funds to support the PSPCA’s work.
Other events will include Yappy Hour at The Brass Tap, Adoptable Dog Meet and Greet at City of Paws Pet Care, Dog Day raffle and giveaways, Dan’s Toonz sketching caricatures, cool-down stations and chill zones with doggie pools, pup cups and more, plus vendors, pet wellness information, dog-themed hot sauces, sidewalk sales, dog beer samples, open play yard party, and more.
