Philadelphians in search of wares for a buck got some good news today: Budget retailer Dollar Tree plans to open 13 new locations in and around the city.
Metro Commercial Real Estate announced that it negotiated “13 new store openings for Dollar Tree in Pennsylvania.” Metro Commercial’s Michael Murray represented Dollar Tree in the negotiations over the locations, slated to bein Bethlehem, Allentown, Bensalem, Chester, Fairless Hills, Levittown, Woodlyn, Dickson City, South Hampton and Philadelphia.

Philadelphia will see two new stores open, one at 3854 Morrell Avenue in Northeast Philly and another on North Broad Street. Those two stores will have a combined 20,000 square feet of retail space.
Metro Commercial represents over 100 national retail chains and helps them scout and secure locations. The company also acts leasing agent for more than 300 properties, managing a total of 6.5 million square feet of retail space.
In 2009, CBS News reported that discount retailer Dollar Tree’s success previewed changes to America’s retail economy following the great recession. And, the company made national headlines over the past several years overa battle to acquire competitor Family Dollar in the face of similarly named Dollar General.
In the end, Dollar Tree prevailed over Dollar General and acquired Family Dollar.
