A man was killed and another was injured when gunfire erupted Tuesday night in South Philadelphia, police said.
The shooting happened just before 11:45 p.m. on the 600 block of Mountain Street, according to authorities.
Officers responding to the scene found a 37-year-old man with wounds to his back and buttocks, investigators said. He was taken to Jefferson University Hospital, where he died a short time later, officials added. The PPD has not publicly identified him.
The other victim, a 23-year-old man, was struck in the shoulder and is being treated for nonlife-threatening injuries, police said.
Investigators reportedly recovered evidence of more than 30 bullets being fired and found a handgun at the scene. Authorities have not commented on a possible motive, and no arrests have been reported.
