A driver called police after fatally striking a female pedestrian but left the scene before officers arrived Sunday night in Olney, authorities said.
The crash happened just before 10:30 p.m. at 5th Street and Fisher Avenue, according to the PPD. Investigators said the pedestrian, a 35-year-old woman, ran into the street and was hit by a vehicle.
Medics took her to Einstein Medical Center, where she died just after 11 p.m., police said. Authorities have not publicly identified her.
The driver dialed 911 and reported the collision but was not present when police showed up, according to investigators. The PPD has not provided a description of the car.
