Investigators continue to search for a driver who did not stop after fatally striking a 8-year-old boy with an SUV Monday afternoon in Strawberry Mansion.
The vehicle was speeding through the intersection of 33rd and Huntingdon streets at around 4:15 p.m. when it hit Ja-Kha House, who lived a block away, police said. He was with his mother at the time of the crash, according to multiple media reports.
Authorities said fire department medics performed CPR at the scene before rushing him to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, where he died less than an hour later.
Later in the day, at around 7:15 p.m., police found an abandoned white Buick Enclave on the on the 4000 block of Balwynne Park Road, on the other side of the Schuylkill River near Fairmount Park. The vehicle had been reported stolen and was damaged, investigators said.
Two men were spotted running from the SUV, according to authorities. The driver had not been apprehended as of Tuesday afternoon.
