A 24-year-old man is expected to be charged with driving under the influence after a violent crash left a woman dead and two other people critically injured Sunday afternoon in Northeast Philadelphia.
It happened at around 4:15 p.m. on the 7400 block of State Road in Holmesburg, police said. The man’s SUV crossed the center lines and hit a car, which then collided with a utility pole, according to investigators.
A 67-year-old woman who was a passenger in the car died about an hour later at Frankford Torresdale Hospital. A 71-year-old woman and the female driver of the vehicle were listed in critical condition, police said.
Authorities said the driver of the SUV was also seriously injured. His name was not released.
