Durant leads OKC past Sixers in OT

Thunder 110, Sixers 105 (OT)

What went wrong …

1 The Durant Effect — One team has a superstar and the other one doesn’t. Even though potential all-league defender Andre Iguodala was on him the whole game, Durant made tough shot after tough shot, including a rugged two and a ridiculous 3-pointer in the final minute of regulation to send it to overtime. Durant had 34 points and 16 rebounds.

2 Stand up and cheer — Last night may have been the most intense Sixers crowd since the 2009 playoff series against the Magic. On one key possession in the fourth quarter, the fans were chanting “Let’s Go Sixers” so loud that Jrue Holiday couldn’t hear the coaches’ screaming that the shot clock was about to expire.

3 Closing argument — The Sixers’ nightmarish inability to close out close games reared its ugly head again. They led by five points with 42 seconds to go, bringing back memories of earlier blown games vs. the Wizards, Hawks and Celtics. It’s a sign of inexperience.
