Eagles all in, but where’s Danny Watkins?

That’s right. While the Eagles were making a splash — more like a cannon ball — in the free agent pool this past weekend (Just to recap: they signed CB Nnamdi Asomugha, DL Cullen Jenkins, QB Vince Young, G Evan Mathis and traded for CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. They are also reportedly shopping CB Asante Samuel.), rookie Danny Watkins is still missing from Lehigh.

The rookie offensive lineman is already slated to start at right guard, per coach Andy Reid. However, Watkins has yet to sign a contract. Until he does, he can’t report to camp. The Eagles did sign veteran guard Evan Mathis Sunday, perhaps as a nice little insurance policy.

With high draft picks, you usually have to wait until the guys drafted ahead of you sign their deals. Watkins was selected at No. 23. So far, the 22nd overall pick has not inked a deal.
