Eagles by the Numbers: Key stats and insights after their embarrassing loss in Week 4

After the embarrassing loss in Tampa Bay, Philadelphia heads into a much-needed bye week, which should be enough time for Lane Johnson, DeVonta Smith, and AJ Brown to return. Hopefully, it affords them enough time to find a way for Cooper DeJean and Jalyx Hunt to get on the field.

As the stats show, the Birds could use all the help they can add to their struggling defense.

Without further ado.

Birds by numbers

- The total number of points scored by the Eagles in the first quarter this season.

- Brandon Graham’s sack total for Week 4. At age 36, he is outplaying almost everyone on the defensive line.

- The total number of receptions Jahan Dotson had. The Eagles traded a 3rd round pick believing he would be far more productive.

- Fumbles in the game. Two by Hurts, one by Cooper DeJean. Also three turnovers in the red zone.

- Scoring drives allowed by the Eagles before they put points on the board.

- The total number of combined tackles between Jalen Carter, Bryce Huff, Josh Sweat, and Milton Williams.

- The number of times Tampa Bay sacked Jalen Hurts. The Tampa defense only had 2 sacks over the first three weeks.

- Receptions made in the Week 4 game by Eagles wide receivers. Parris Campbell had 4, Jahan Dotson 2, and John Ross with 1.

– The number of rushes Jalen Hurts totaled netting 20 yards, and a meager 2.5 YPC average.

- Tackles made by Darius Slay, who led the team. If your CB1 is the defense’s leading tackler, it has likely been a rough day.

- The number of carries Saquon Barkley had. He rushed for 84 yards.

- The number of games the Eagles brass watched Doug Pederson coach the Birds to a 3–8 record before he was fired. Nick Sirianni is 3–8 over his last 11 games as well.

- The difference between Tampa’s 18 passing first downs versus the Eagles throwing for 6.

– Minutes of possession differential. Also the difference in 1st downs. Tampa had 29, the Eagles 16.

- Pressures allowed by the Eagles offensive line.

- Missed tackles per NextGenStats. This resulted in Tampa Bay running for an additional 105 yards.

- Point loss to the Bucs 33–16. The score was not as indicative of how bad the defeat was. They were down 24–0 at one point.

- The number of games the Eagles have lost the turnover battle over the last 22 contests.

- Yards allowed to Mike Evans in coverage by Quinyon Mitchell. He continues to be a bright spot on the defense week in and out.

- The number of points the Eagles defense has allowed in the first quarter over their first four games.
