Eagles catch a break as Lane Johnson’s injury deemed “not that serious” by NFL insider

After a brutal loss against the Jets, it looks like there is some good news on the way. The Eagles lost Lane Johnson due to an ankle injury in the middle of the game but according to ESPN’s very own, Adam Schefter, he received word that the injury “is not that serious.”

Breathe Philadelphia, just breathe. There is no official word on a specific timetable for Lane Johnson or if he’ll even miss time at all but this is a huge sigh of relief. The Eagles struggled mightily without their star right tackle last night against a fierce Jets pass rush.

Philly asked Jack Driscoll to take Johnson’s place and it led to Jalen Hurts running for his life while also seeing ghosts out there due to the lack of time in the pocket. Driscoll was unable to keep up with the Jets edge rusher all night and wasn’t really given much help by Eagles OC Brian Johnson. You rarely saw a tight end line up next to Driscoll to help but that was the least of their problems from a terrible overall showing by the offense.

Next up for the Eagles…

The Eagles will take on the Miami Dolphins on Sunday Night Football this week. It would be wrong of me to say this is a must-win game but this for all purposes is a must-bounce-back game. Philadelphia’s offense couldn’t find a way to move the ball downfield which led to the offense flaming out in the second half.

If they are going to keep up with the high-scoring offense, who will be facing an injured secondary, then they need a sense of urgency from the offensive staff and their playmakers. Having their star right tackle there will also help a bit but there’s no word on his status just yet.
