Eagles deny report about consultant

When in doubt, hire a consultant.

Or not.

According to an ESPN report, the Eagles were considering hiring a defensive consultant to help their struggling defense. The team wanted to evaluate Juan Castillo’s unit this week against Washington before making a move during the bye week.

But Reid, through an Eagles spokesman, denied that report yesterday, saying that he needs to fix the 12 turnovers generated by the team’s offense in four straight losses.

The Eagles are ranked 15th in overall defense — 30th against the run, 27th in points allowed — and are at an NFL-worst, minus-10 in turnover ratio.

After Sunday’s loss, Castillo maintained he had “the answers” to fix the defense.

“We’re getting better. We have to win games,” Castillo said.
