The Philadelphia Eagles have released their Thursday injury report ahead of this weekend’s clash with the New York Giants.
Lane Johnson, Avonte Maddox, and Josh Sweat all missed practice today, while a handful of veterans had rest days. The injury report looks quite scary given the eight rest days, but if you take them out, the Eagles aren’t looking too bad.
The one question that everyone wants an answer to is whether or not Jalen Hurts will play against the Giants. He was limited in practice for the second day in a row and given that there is only one more practice before the weekend, it’s not the most encouraging sign in the world.
In an ideal world, the Giants would play backups and there would be no real rush to get Hurts back under center. But Gardner Minshew has accounted for four total turnovers and five sacks through the team’s two most recent losses and a lack of confidence in his ability to win such an important game would be understandable.
Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer noted that Hurts actually took first-team reps in practice today, which is an encouraging sign.
It still seems up in the air as to whether Jalen Hurts will return for the week 18 showdown against the New York Giants but fans everywhere will have their fingers crossed that the MVP candidate will be healthy enough to guide the Eagles to a comfortable win, securing them the #1 seed and homefield advantage in the playoffs during the process.
