Eagles likely to cut Connor Barwin, Mychal Kendricks report says

The Eagles are strapped for cash, with the free agency threshold about to arrive Thursday at 4 p.m.

With just over $11 million in availablecash to spend and big holes at cornerback and wide receiver, the Eagles have, according to reports, been shopping linebacker Mychal Kendricks and defensive end Connor Barwin. Both players’ departure would give the team some much-needed salary relief, but teams know it.

And with teams mindful of the likelihood that if neither is traded they’ll be cut, it might be hard for Philly to complete a deal.

This all comes as a complicating factor as Philly openly appears to be pursuingformer Texans cornerback A.J. Bouyeand Saints wide receiver Brandon Cooks.

The pricetag for Bouye might be high, but it seems like Howie Roseman and the Eagles front office are a key player for the 25-year-old’s services. The pricetag for Cooks is also quite high, as the team is reportedly asking for a first round pick, and a pass-rusher for the 23-year-old up and coming pass catcher.

It seems like New Orleans is not interested in Kendricks or Barwin. Cutting Kendricks would free up around $1.8 million while Barwin’s release would free up around $7 million.

It is appearing more and more likely that the Eagles are seeing better ways to spend this cash as the free agent market begins to take shape.
