Eagles lose another front office member, Andy Weidl leaves for Pittsburgh

The Eagles are about to lose their fourth high-ranking front office member of the offseason.

According to reports, VP of Player Personnel Andy Weidl will be named the Pittsburgh Steelers new Assistant GM with the longtime exec, Omar Khan expected to replace Kevin Colbert as GM.

Weidl was with the Philadelphia Eagles for seven seasons, serving the last four as the VP of Player Personnel. Under his watch, the Eagles were able to successfully turn around a 4-11-1 season into a 9-8 playoff team. Weidl has over 24 years of NFL scouting experience under his belt.

The Eagles have already lost seven front office members this offseason, with Andy’s brother Casey being one of them. This marks the eighth member they’ve lost.

In January, the team lost Ian Cunningham for an Assistant GM job for the Chicago Bears.

In February, it was Brandon Brown who took an Assistant GM job with the New York Giants.

And early in the month, the team lost their VP of Football Operations, Catherine Raîche, to, you guessed it, an Assistant GM job with the Cleveland Browns.

Andrew Berry and Joe Douglas have both left over the last five years for GM jobs with other teams.

The Eagles have already begun to replace some of the recent open positions with the hiring of Charles Walls and others.

Still, Weidl’s departure is a huge loss with the Eagles’ recent draft success being fairly attributed in part to his scouting and leadership abilities. For the Eagles, it’s more of the same. All eyes will be on who Roseman hires to replace him.
