Eagles mock draft: Glancing at the most popular picks

Any chatter you’ve heard regarding the Eagles’ intentions with the 14th overall pick in the NFL draft is just rumor or contemplation stirred up by media members and Eagles fans as the draft slowly approaches on April 27.

From cornerbacks to pass rushers to wide receivers to running backs, mock drafts across the web have Philly tied to a bevy of different players.

Whether pontificators are pondering the Eagles drafting by need or taking the best available player, whether they are taking flights of fancy or basing their predictions on visits, workouts or combine performance, there is a lot of differentiating opinion across the web.

CBSsports.com has an interesting take, with the Eagles taking overall athletic dynamo Jabrill Peppers, the safety (who can play almost every position) from Michigan. The Birds could definitely use some help in the secondary covering elite NFC East receivers.

An ESPN mock draft from a few weeks ago along with a new one from sportingnews.com has Philly taking Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey. He could be a little bit of a stretch at 14, but the Eagles definitely need a running back for the future.

Bleacherreport.com also thinks it will be a running back, but they place Philly’s interests in Dalvin Cook, who has worked out for the Eagles several times and also visited the Novacare center.

A poll of NFL.com’s writing staff has the Eagles going defense in their mock drafts, taking cornerbackTre’daviousWhite from LSU or Gareon Conley from Ohio State.

Newsday.com also thinks cornerback is the right fit, with Marlon Humphries as their first round choice from Alabama.

In Metro’s latest NFL mock as well as walterfootball.com, Philly goes the wide receiver route. Metro thinks the Birds will snatch Western Michigan’s Corey Davis while Walter believes it will be Washington’s John Ross.
