The eagle has landed… on South Broad Street.
Local artist Tiff Urquhart painted a new mural — appropriately named ‘Go Birds!’ — near Broad and Alter streets, between Washington and Ellsworth, on Tuesday. The project was created with Mural Arts Philadelphia curator and project manager, Conrad Benner (Streets Dept Walls) and location partner, The Del Borrello Group.
‘Go Birds!’ is meant to emphasize the focus of the Philadelphia Eagles and their epic journey to Super Bowl LIX. According to a release, the mural’s concentration mirrors the Eagles and stands in playful contrast to the energy that took over the streets of Philadelphia after the Eagles’ NFC Championship win.
“This mural is a tribute to the beautiful chaos of Philadelphia—the passion, the energy, and the unbreakable spirit of Eagles fans,” said Urquhart. “I wanted to capture that electric feeling leading up to the Super Bowl, but through the eyes of a poised, stoic eagle—calm, patient, and intensely focused. It’s a reflection of the city itself: bold, resilient, and always ready for the next moment.”
Urquhart is a queer, female contemporary artist whose mural career was shaped by Philadelphia’s rich culture and street art scene. Through collaborations with the 76ers, Eagles, West Elm and Philadelphia International Airport, Urquhart has made a lasting impact, using bold colors and fluid forms to spark dialogue and inspire change.
Her famed Eagles Wings mural is located at Lincoln Financial Field and has been a popular spot for fan selfies. Now, her newest work is having a similar effect — fans were already taking photos and posing with the mural shortly after it was unveiled.
“Public art has the power to bring people together,” Urquhart said, “and there’s nothing that unites Philly quite like the Eagles.”
