Eagles Notebook: Jason Babin talks refs, DRC playing with chip?

It was a quiet, quiet day at Eagles camp Thursday. The locker room resembled a tomb, at times, with very few players — virtually no offensive ones, except for Clay Harbor — showing their faces.

Here’s what we know:

» King Dunlap (hamstring) did not practice, as indicated by Andy Reid earlier this week. However, the hobbled left tackle did say he was feeling “fine” as he walked by a reporter.

» Jeremy Maclin (hip contusion, hip pointer) took part in offensive drills, at least the 10-minute window that was open to reporters. He wasn’t expected to be a full participant.

» Jason Babin took another indirect shot at the replacement officials. He admitted that the “integrity [of the game] is slipping.” When asked if he worried about being fined for his comments, Babin relayed a story that defensive line coach Jim Washburn told me a long time ago, saying: “Make enough money so you can pay your fines.”

» Offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg wouldn’t say who his backup RB is this week, although all signs point to Bryce Brown. While Dion Lewis isn’t listed on the injury report, the coach hinted that Brown and Chris Polk are more valuable on special teams.

» Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, one of the most open and honest players, wasn’t available for comment on playing his former team. However, knowing DRC, his juices are pumping. Will he have a chip on his shoulder? “I don’t know how much it is having a chip on your shoulder as it is a competition thing,” coach Andy Reid said.
