Eagles Notebook: McCoy drops agent

Eagles running back LeSean McCoy has fired Drew Rosenhaus — for the second time.

McCoy, who is second in the NFL with 754 rushing yards, has two more years left on his rookie deal. He is making $525,000 this season and is due $575,000 next season. When asked about his contract after Friday’s practice, McCoy didn’t seem too worried.

“That stuff will take care of itself,” he said. “I just play ball. I have an agent and eventually he’ll take care of that. I’ve got to do a lot more to do before I can talk about getting all this money up front.”

Of course, that was Friday, when McCoy still had an agent. As of Sunday, he didn’t have new representation and was planning to interview agents. However, a report on ProFootballTalk claimed that the Eagles and McCoy have been quietly working on a long-term deal.

At Friday’s practice, cornerback Asante Samuel was throwing praise McCoy’s way every time he touched the ball. “There’s the best running back in the league,” Samuel said. “Don’t get a big head.”

McCoy’s former agent, Rosenhaus, also represents Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson, who is seeking a raise after outperforming his rookie deal. Jackson is making just $600,000 this season. The wideout isn’t commenting on his contract situation. In fact, Jackson told one reporter that he was only going to talk to the media following games.
