Eagles Notebook: McCoy, O-line win awards

After a short meeting Monday afternoon, the Eagles are enjoying two full days of rest and relaxation before returning to the NovaCare Complex Thursday for practice.

In the wake of the team’s impressive 34-7 throttling of the Dallas Cowboys, a few players were singled out by the league for awards. LeSean McCoy has been named the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Week, after shredding the Cowboys for 185 rushing yards and two scores. The running back is also up for the FedEx Ground Player of the Week Award, which he won in Week 1. Vote for Shady here.

The Eagles’ offensive line also scooped up some hardware after paving the way for McCoy and QB Mike Vick, who rushed for 50 yards. As a team, the Eagles gained 239 yards on the ground. Hall of Fame coach — and video-game innovator — John Madden selected the Eagles’ O-line for his weekly Madden Protectors Award. By winning the weekly honor, the Eagles are in contention for the overall Madden Protectors Award, which will be presented during Super Bowl week.

In other Eagles-related news … the Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleaders will host their annual Junior Cheerleading Clinic Saturday on Nov. 5 at the Linc. Future cheerleaders, ranging in ages from 5 to 13, are invited to attend. Tickets are $65 and can be purchased here.

Also, Eagles linebackers Moise Fokou and Brian Rolle, along with punter Chas Henry helped out with Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia Tuesday afternoon, as they helped put the finishing touches on a home they built on the 2200 block of Latona Street in South Philadelphia.
