Eagles Daily Newsbeat writer Les Bowen has confirmed that the Eagles plan to hire Chiefs offensive coordinator Doug Pederson as their next head coach.
The reporter cites league sources, saying”We have concluded our search for a head coach. No further interviews are scheduled.”
Pederson is currently Andy Reid’s offensive go-to-guy in Kansas City. He has led the Chiefs to the AFC Divisional round where they are slated to play the Patriots Saturday afternoon.
The Birds will then be able to make their official offer.
Pederson worked under Reid in Philly as well in a few capacities and also was one quarterback of the Eagles before they drafted Donovan McNabb.
Perhaps the Eagles are ending up without their first choice, as Adam Gase went to the Dolphins and Ben McAdoo went to the Giants.
Chip Kelly, Pederson’s predecessor, was hired by the 49ersThursday afternoon as well in a busy day on the NFL’s coaching exchange.
