Eagles take Kenny Pickett out for dinner: What you need to know

As NFL scouts and front offices scout incoming prospects at their Pro-Days, it’s not uncommon to see teams interested in certain players that could eventually be their draft selection in April. And with the case of the Eagles, it looks like their eyes are on another QB prospect – Kenny Pickett.

In a historically weak QB class, the Eagles keeping eyes on the QB position certainly raises eyebrows. Especially after reportedly missing out on both Deshaun Watson and Russell Wilson.

For Pickett, he’s a player that many have debated. While his college numbers and tape are highly impressive, the god-given tools are lacking. His hand size being under 9″ would make him the smallest hand size in pro football. His arm strength is good but not great, and he has issues with happy feet.

He’s not the worst QB prospect out there, but he certainly isn’t one that teams are expecting to trade up for.

What is interesting is his Pro-Day. By all accounts, Pickett reportedly killed all drills and was highly successful. There is a ton of evidence that the Eagles fall in love with players at their pro-day, specifically at QB. In 2016, former NFL Scout Gil Brandt said Carson Wentz had the best Pro Day for a QB he had ever seen, and it propelled the Eagles to trade up twice (!) in the draft to take him.

With the Eagles seemingly taking out Pickett to dinner, the questions will only continue to mount on the team’s love for current QB1 Jalen Hurts. The team has been relatively quiet in the free-agent market but have four picks in the top 64 overall, and plenty of cap flexibility.

Was Pickett able to woo the Eagles into taking another QB in the first two rounds?

Only time will apparently tell.
