Eagles take Nelson Agholor in first round

Amid rumors–and I mean rumors–about what the Eagles might or might not do with their first round selection, the Birds still managed to make their fans scratch their heads with the drafting of USC wide receiver Nelson Agholor.

A solid-first round talent, there were a handful of wide receivers on the board, BreshadPerrimanand Jaelan Strong, Chip Kelly elected to take a guy from his beloved Pac-12.

Kelly also passed up an opportunity to improve the Eagles’s depleted secondary, passing up on Landon Collins, a safety who would help the Philly defense quite a bit.

Kelly had nothing but praise for his new wide receiver, who will likely join last year’s selection Jordan Matthews in a young receiving corps.

“Outstanding hands, outstanding route runner,” the coach said.”He was the best player that was available for us that fit our system.”

The Eagles hope Agholor can fill the void left by departed ace wideout Jeremy Maclin, who left Philly for the Colts last month.
