The Eagles have started this week with a bang, announcing that their 2022 home opener is going to be against the Minnesota Vikings. The game will take place on September 19th, week 2 of the upcoming NFL season.
The Eagles last faced the Vikings back in 2019, when Minnesota defeated Philadelphia 38-20, but a lot has changed since then. The most notable narrative here is of course the line connecting Justin Jefferson and Jalen Reagor. Howie Roseman passed on drafting the LSU product and decided to go all-in on Reagor, a decision which has since haunted the Eagles. Jefferson has turned into one of the league’s brightest stars, while Reagor is drawing ‘bust’ labels from just about everywhere.
This will be the first time that Nick Sirianni has faced Minnesota as a Head Coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. The two franchises have been intertwined for years now. They of course traded Sam Bradford to the Vikes in 2017, and would later knock them out of the playoffs through absolute decimation. Just to rub salt in the wound, they then won the Super Bowl in their stadium weeks later.
The two fanbases don’t exactly get a long and this matchup promises to be a fiery contest and the perfect way to welcome fans back to Lincoln Financial Field after the summer break. The Vikings lead the all-time series 15-14, so here’s to hoping that the Eagles tie it up!
