Eagles WR Devon Allen was wrongfully disqualified from World Championships

After placing in first during the quarterfinals in the 110-meter hurdles, Devon Allen’s hopes of a world championship were dashed in controversial fashion. The Eagles receiver was disqualified after a false start by one-thousandth of a second.

While videos all appear to show Allen starting at the right time, he was disqualified and unable to participate in the finals. The controversy swept social media shortly after.

Allen has had a lot of success this past racing season. He placed first in three 110-meter hurdles events, including a race at the New York Grand Prix that saw Allen post the third-fastest time in track and field history (12.84 seconds).

Devon Allen sets his sights on making the Eagles roster

With his hopes of a championship in the 110 hurdles all but gone, the receiver now turns his sights on potentially making the Eagles roster.

Devon Allen signed a three-year $2.5 million contract with the Eagles. But just $40,000 is guaranteed if Allen fails to make the final 53-man roster. Allen’s best years in college came in 2014 for the Ducks in which the 6’0″ speedster totaled over 700 yards from scrimmage and seven touchdowns.

In a loaded receiving room that consists of AJ Brown, and DeVonta Smith, Allen has small odds to make the team, but his speed is a skill that is highly coveted across the NFL. And there will certainly be a chip on his shoulder now that a controversial ruling kept him from winning a world championship.
