The atmosphere:
Suave and classy. The Franklin fancies itself a Prohibition-era “drinking establishment,” so keep your shirt buttoned up and A-game office heels on.
The drinks:
This month’s “Extra Credit” program — aka happy hour at a “drinking establishment” — has a New Orleans theme, offering $9 cocktails with origins in the region. Educate yourself with a Roffignac (cognac, raspberry syrup and seltzer), Vieux Carre (rye, cognac, sweet vermouth, Benedictine, Peychaud and Angostura bitters) or a Sazerac (rye or cognac, Demerara and Peychaud bitters).
The bites:
All that research can work up an appetite. Small plates — including house-made charcuterie, colossal lump crab imperial and Peking pork grinds — are now provided by Supper restaurant.
The extras:
The Franklin’s cocktail menu is divided into cheeky sections that correspond to how strong each drink is. Long week? Us, too. We’re skipping straight to the “I Asked Her for Water, She Brought Me Gasoline” page.
