East Passyunk is bursting with fall flavor

Fall is a season bursting with flavor, and this weekend Philadelphians will be able to taste and indulge in most of them if they head to East Passyunk starting Friday. From Oct. 16th through Sunday, Oct. 25th the bustling neighborhood of South Philly will be hosting their first-ever Harvest Celebration, showcasing local businesses while enjoying the autumnal season with a variety of fall-themed food, beverages and shopping opportunities.

East Passyunk holds a variety of bar/restaurants, BYO eateries, one-of-a-kind stores and retail destinations and most of these spots will be offering diners and shoppers seasonal dishes and drinks and other purchasing specials throughout the duration of the event. The best part is, many of these options can be enjoyed for take-out and/or delivery along with dine-in as well so you won’t even need to leave the comfort of your own home.

“Even in this unusual climate, we still wanted to give people an opportunity to enjoy themselves, and celebrate all the rich flavors of the season,” said EPABID Executive Director Adam Leiter in the release. “We encourage everyone to come down the Avenue for a safe and socially distanced experience of fall flavors, shopping and more.”

A few of East Passyunk’s top spots are going to be offering up a few signature seasonal dishes and drinks for the fall-themed event including Bing Bing Dim Sum’s caramel pork shank (made with Vietnamese pickles, sambal and steamed buns); Cantina Los Caballitos’ squash blossom quesadillas plus pumpkin chai, pomegranate and spiced pear margaritas; Essen Bakery’s homemade Oreo cookies and spooky Halloween black and white cookies; Flannel’s Mesquite pork ribs, Memphis brisket and fresh blackberry-lavender tea lemonade; Noir’s Smokey Harvest Margarita (made with tequila, apple cider, lime triple sec and maple syrup) and River Twice’s Whitesbog Cranberry Mule (made with vodka, house-made cranberry juice, lime and topped with ginger beer in a frosty in a copper mug.)

However, shoppers can also get their own seasonal trinket fix in with a few specials from some of East Passyunk’s most popular shops as well. At Amelie’s Bark Shop, Philadelphians can buy treats and dress-up items for their favorite furry pals, including limited-edition bandanas, mystery boxes, and more; at A Novel Idea shoppers can indulge in Halloween-themed book bundles plus customers save between 20-25% by buying the bundles which range in price from $20-$55 and includes three books – adult fiction bundle, middle-grade fiction bundle, and children’s picture book bundle; and at A Star Is Born fall children’s apparel and the the latest holiday lines will be on display. With each purchase shoppers will also receive one free fall-themed kids craft to take home as well.

According to the release, whether it be dining or shopping, customers are encouraged to take photos of their Harvest Celebration photos and share them on Instagram using the hashtag #PassyunkHarvest. East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District will be giving away $100 worth of gift cards to one randomly selected Instagram post between the 16th and the 25th.
