Macabre fans, this one’s for you.

The Edgar Allan Poe speakeasy is setting its sights on The Fallser Club in East Falls this year, and will pop up at the venue from Oct. 9 to 11. The 21+ experience includes a fresh four-part cocktail experience led by a mixologist, paired with themed, live entertainment.

2025’s installment is labeled “Chapter 2” after the concept’s first iteration in the City of Brotherly Love in 2023.

“Over a century and a half after Edgar Allan Poe’s death, this cocktail experience brings the most beloved works of Poe to life off the page and onto the stage,” said show creator Julia Tirinnanzi. “We love Poe’s works and wanted to celebrate it. This is our favorite national traveling show and we can’t wait to bring this new chapter to Philadelphia, where Poe found so much inspiration for some of his most famous stories. It was important for us to bring Poe to a city where Poe had such a strong connection.”

As Tirinnanzi notes, organizers selected the City of Brotherly Love and Northern Liberties due to the strong connections Poe had with Philly and the neighborhood. Northern Liberties is currently home to the Edgar Allan Pоe National Historic Site, and to the famous Poe Mural at N. 7th and Spring Garden streets.

As a release states, Poe lived in Philadelphia between 1838 and 1844, spending the last year to 18 months at a house on North 7th Street, just up the street from Craft Hall. He crafted some of his most well-known and important works while living in the city, and some have called Philly the crucible for Poe’s imagination, as he wrote ‘The Tell-Tale Heart’, ‘The Black Cat’, ‘The Masque of the Red Death’, ‘William Wilson’, ‘The Oval Portrait’ and more while in Philadelphia.

The four stories coming to life on stage for this year’s production include ‘The Pit and the Pendulum’, ‘The Fall of the House of Usher’, ‘The Cask of Amontillado’ and ‘Annabel Lee.’ Drinks are on theme with the stories with sips like a hibiscus bourbon lemonade (dubbed the Lover’s Lament), a twist on a prosecco float (the Swing of Fate), an orange and amontillado tipper (Montresor’s Revenge) and a pomegranate and cold brew concoction (Roderick’s Ruin.)

Tickets cost $55 each and include all four drinks, venue admission and the live experience. Cocktail or Poe-inspired attire is suggested, but not required. Alcohol-free cocktail options will be available upon request as well.

“We want each experience to be unique, special — and everyone feels like they are a part of the performance,” said Tirinnanzi.
