It may be the end of the summer, but that doesn’t mean you can’t finish out the season on a tasty note.
This Thursday, Aug. 28, Ember & Ash is partnering with Di Bruno Bros. to create a collaborative menu featuring items found in the South Philadelphia cheese shop. Those ingredients span cheese (of course), cured meats, olive oils, and more. The event will kick off at 5 p.m. with an a la carte menu full of the local finds.
As a release notes, each dish will lean into the best of summer, with everything cooked over the fire and layered with sultry Italian flavors.
Options span a raclette tart with nixtamizled and roasted cherry tomatoes; grilled Ragusano cheese with salami XO and pickled squash; fig leaf Lenora with roasted figs and Modena balsamic; corn croquette with cheese, fermented cherry, and Lady Ellison; La Tur stuffed pasta with grated truffle cheese; and one other pasta dish by Chef Calhoun. For dessert, there will be a blackberry galette with Old Chatham Creamery ice cream to finish things off on a sweet note.
Those who dine at the end of the summer dinner also have the option to upgrade to a tasting menu with an optional beverage pairing while there. Throughout the night, Di Bruno Bros. owner Emilio Mignucci will also be at the venue to tell stories and give product insights to guests.
The dinner this weekend is a result of the restaurant’s recent rebranding. Team/owners Scott and Lulu Calhoun debuted a fresh menu/look back in the spring to lean into a “New American gastropub vibe” with some global influences.

“We wanted to create a place that feels exciting without the fuss,” Lulu said at the time of rebranding. “We want to be a spot where you can settle in, order another round, and forget what time it is. Philly has an incredible restaurant scene, and we are grateful to be part of it.”
