ESPN fires Hugh Douglas

Hugh Douglas was fired by ESPN after an altercation with a colleague last week.

Hugh Douglas has been relieved of his duties at ESPN, following a racial tirade he directed at a colleague.

Douglas, who spent seven seasons with the Eagles, was drunk and threatened to beat up ESPN’s Michael Smith last week at a nightclub in Florida. Douglas reportedly called Smith an “Uncle Tom” and a “House N—–.” The incident was first reported by the popular sports gossip website, The Big Lead.

Douglas wrote the following statement Tuesday on his Twitter account: “I am very disappointed to be leaving ESPN and will have more to say about this situation and my future at the appropriate time.”
