Philadelphia police are searching for two people in connection with the murder of a man who was the target of a murder-for-hire plot on Facebook.
Corey White, 22, was shot in the chest last night around 7:45 p.m. on the 5100 block of Hadfield Street, about two blocks from his Webster Street home. White was in court earlier yesterday for a hearing for London Eley and Timothy Bynum, who are charged with conspiring to kill White.
At a press conference today, authorities said a brown car with at least two men inside pulled up next to White and exchanged words with him before one man got out of the car, shot White and got back inside the car and fled.
Police said the two suspects in the Facebook case were in custody at the time of the shooting and still are, but they would not rule out connection to the case.
“It’s too early to tell. We are looking into that as one possible motive,” said Homicide Capt. James Clark. “There are a couple other theories out there.”
