Faces of Philly Look Book features local flare

On Thursday, October 20, Arcadia Boutique collaborated with BUS STOP Boutique on a launch party for the Faces of Philly look book, featuring local photographer Mechelle LaVelle. The project was inspired by Philadelphia’s annual Design Philadelphia, which unites the creative disciplines – from architecture to interior design, fashion to product design, multi-media to graphic design – reinforcing the message that Philadelphia is a rich resource for creativity, innovation and cultural vibrancy.

Arcadia’s customers served as models for the book, with each of their Philly stories playing an integral part in making up the city’s design and culture. Each person shares an interesting history, great personal style, and a love to support local independent boutiques. The party included a pop-up shop from BUS STOP, offering attendees the opportunity to create their eco-chic look from head-to-toe.

Arcadia is the latest project by Philly native Ali McCloud who took her experience working for luxury fashion brands like Just Cavalli and Galliano and created this eco-fashion boutique. This is the place for the independent-minded fashionista to find fabulous and original, yet affordable fashion from emerging and eco-friendly designers. In addition to women’s fashion apparel, Arcadia carries a limited selection of men’s and green baby items, soy candles, lotions and artwork for sale by local and national artists. There is also an in-house travel consultant available to provide information on eco-tourism and international travel destinations.

London-born Elena Brennan turned her passion for shoes into BUS STOP boutique, which carries hard-to-find designer labels and styles for both men and women. Located in historic Fabric Row, shop has been voted “Best Shoes” by Philadelphia Magazine & featured in The New York Times “36 Hours in Philadelphia”.

If you missed the launch, don’t fret, BUS Stop will host a closing reception this Friday, October 28 from 5:30 to 8:30pm. They’ll also offer a free copy of Faces of Philly with every shoe purchase.
