Those looking to indulge in some Fall treats and eats are in luck. We’ve rounded up some of the best seasonal dishes and sips to try around Philadelphia.

Scrapple & Apple Festival at Reading Terminal Market

Locals can indulge in all things apple and all things scrapple this fall at Reading Terminal Market. On Saturday, Oct. 12, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., visitors can walk around the famed Philly venue and try small bites from 20+ Market merchants, listen to live bluegrass music, check out seasonal kid’s crafts, and more.

Participating vendors include Butcher’s Pantry (scrapple cheesesteak), Down Home Diner (scrapple fries with apple butter), El Merkury (apple churros), Molly Malloy’s (apple pop tart), Old City Coffee (apple cinnamon latte), Flying Monkey Bakery (scrapple shortbread), Bassetts Ice Cream (caramel apple float) and plenty more.

Leading up to the festival Reading Terminal will also host a Scrapple Sculpting Contest on Thursday, Oct. 10, at 11 a.m. and the resulting creations will be on display at the Scrapple & Apple Festival. Attendees of the festival can vote for their favorite to win via the “popular vote” while there.

Brews & Boos at Iron Hill Brewery

Back for another year, Iron Hill is once again serving up their “Fright Flight,” aka a craft beer and Halloween candy pairing for $10.50. From Oct. 25 to 27, locals can pair a Pig Iron Porter with a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, Pumpkin Ale with a Kit Kat, Philly Phavorite IPA with a Starburst and a Brambleberry Farmhouse Ale paired with Swedish Fish.

Loyalty members will receive an additional pairing (a Little Red Wagon Fruited Sour and Twizzlers) and for the kiddos, Iron Hill also offers a milk and chocolate candy pairing for $3 for under 21 trick-or-treaters.

Pierogi Dinner at Little Walter’s

If you’re looking for some savory fall treats and eats, Little Walter’s is offering a special eight-course dinner for National Pierogi Day (Oct. 8).

On that date, the $100 per person occasion will begin at 6:30 p.m. and feature an array of different dishes like their signature Pierogi Ruskie Sourdough (with potato and caramelized onion, creamy farmers cheese), Onion Soup Pierogi (bone broth, smoked gouda and an herb salad), Duck Carnitas (duck kiełbasa, smoked squash and mole), Birchrun Bleu Cheese Pierogi (fig and chicories) and more.

An optional beverage package encompassing curated cocktails, beer, and wine will be available for an additional cost as well. Reservations for Little Walter’s pierogi dinner are highly encouraged and can be made via Resy.

Cake Life Bake Shop

For those looking to indulge in some sugary fall treats and eats in Philly Fishtown favorite Cake Life Bake Shop is serving up some themed bites. The popular locale will be offering Monster Funfetti Cupcakes ($7.50 available during the week before Halloween) with green, orange, yellow, and purple icing and edible eyes and mouths. The bakery is also serving up Festive Fiesta and Funfetti Cupcakes ($5), sprinkled with orange, black, and yellow sparkles and topped with a black glitter-dipped cherry on top. 

The Halloween cupcakes will be available for in-store pick-up and delivery via Uber Eats, customers can pre-order online now. Note, orders must be completed by 2 p.m. four days prior to the desired pick-up or delivery date.

Empanada Making Class at Jezabel’s

Philadelphians can head to Jezabel’s on Thursday, Oct. 24, for a special empanada-making class along with Chef Jezabel Careaga. The activation is great for beginners and those looking to amp up their cooking skills at any level. After class, participants can enjoy their creations in the dining room and enjoy complimentary beverages.

The BYOB class comes out to be $125 per person and can be booked via Resy.

Porktoberfest at Bake’n Bacon

The bacon-themed locale in Bella Vista recently kicked off their Porktoberfest celebration, which will run until Halloween. Philadelphians can expect a pork board, inventive sandwiches, chocolate-covered bacon, bacon beer, and more. Highlights include a Peach Bacon Burger ($25, wagyu beef, thick-cut bacon, and peach bacon chutney); the Bacon Lobster Alfredo ($34, linguine tossed in garlic butter alfredo, smoked pork belly burnt ends, bacon crumbles, and lobster); a Bacon Lobster Roll ($30, a lobster tossed in garlic butter and topped with bacon slices and bacon crumbles); Sweet Fries ($13, signature fries tossed in a bacon caramel sauce,) and more.

The restaurant will also be serving up some Halloween cocktails, plus, anyone who shows up in costume throughout the month will receive a $10 gift certificate to be used during a future visit.

Morgan’s Pier

Morgan’s Pier might be a staple in the summer, but its Fall Fest also offers a lot for locals. From now through Oct. 26, the waterfront destination will feature different events, live entertainment, pumpkin carving, plus new food and drink treats to try for the season.

Food and drink wise, the updated fall menu will feature smoked brisket chili, butternut squash and goat cheese pizza, sausage penne pasta, skirt steak tacos, crispy brussel sprouts, plus sips like an American Mule, a Fall Sangria, the Candied Apple and the Pear Spritz. For those looking for some heat, locals can also sip on a Spiked Pumpkin Latte, a S’more flavored spiked hot chocolate, an Apple Spiced Toddy, and the “Muddy Buddy”, which features Skrewball Peanut Butter whiskey, Irish cream, coffee and hot chocolate.
