Fatality on Regional Rail tracks Sunday after woman hit by train

A woman died Sunday after being hit by a Regional Rail train in Ambler, Pa.

The Lansdale-Doylestown train traveling inbound to Center City was near Railroad and Mt. Pleasant avenues when the woman, who was in the track area, was struck around 11 a.m., reports say.

The conductor saw the woman and used the emergency brakes to stop the train but still made contact with the woman.

The woman’s age and identity were not available, and neither was why she was standing in the track area.

No passengers aboard the train were hurt. According to SEPTA, the passengers exited the train and walked to the Ambler station, before boarding shuttle buses to finish the trip.

Service was suspended for about three hours after the fatality.

Full service resumed around 2:30 p.m
