A Northeast Philadelphia father killed a man he found in his 20-year-old daughter’s bedroom. The victim turned out to be the woman’s 32-year-old boyfriend, police said.
The father, 41, caught a glimpse of the man at his daughter’s bed inside their apartment on the 2700 block of Axe Factory Roadjust before midnight Monday, according to Officer Christine O’Brien, a police spokeswoman.
Police said the father, who may not have been aware the suspected intruder was his daughter’s boyfriend, pulled out a gun and charged into the room. The father pointed the gun at the intruder and ordered him to get down on the floor as he called police.
The boyfriend moved, and the father fired.
The man died shortly afterward at the Torresdale Aria Health hospital.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident, and have taken the father into custody. No charges have been filed as of 1 p.m.
