Few issues reported during Eagles celebrations

Fans poured out onto the streets of Philadelphia after the Eagles advanced to the Super Bowl with a 31-7 victory Sunday over the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game.

On the whole, the celebrations appeared to be joyful and peaceful, with little in the way of violence or damage.

A video that circulated on social media showed a bus shelter just south of City Hall collapsing after several people had climbed on top of it, and numerous clips showed fans scurrying up light poles (despite pre-greasing).

Most streets were closed to traffic between 8th and 20th from Lombard to Race in Center City to make way for revelers. Fans also gathered at Cottman and Frankford avenues in Northeast Philadelphia and other prominent intersections around the city.

Police reported five arrests during the post-game partying. One person was apprehended for illegal possession of a gun, and two people were arrested for allegedly assaulting a police office. Two arrests were made for vandalism to city property.

In the area of Lincoln Financial Field, officers took in six people for illegally selling alcoholic beverages, according to the PPD.

Six people received citations, mostly for disorderly conduct, officials said.
