First U.S. shopping mall healthcare center to open in Plymouth Meeting

Forget amusement park rides, indoor skate parks and other mall gimmicks. The Plymouth Meeting Mall will become the first enclosed shopping mall in the country to feature a healthcare center, according to a release from the Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust.

The center will be a satellite of Mercy Suburban Hospital in East Norriton under the Mercy Health System. The two-level ambulatory outpatient facility is scheduled to open in September 2012.

It will feature a primary care physician as well as specialist offices, physical therapy, non-invasive procedure and imaging suites and a walk-in clinic.

So, in seven months, you may be able to get an Orange Julius with your ultrasound.
