Five Eagles to watch in preseason clash with the Browns

The Philadelphia Eagles will play their second game of the preseason this weekend as they face the Cleveland Browns. Here are five players who will need to make the most of the opportunity and should be exciting to watch out for as a result.

Reed Blankenship

The UDFA led the Eagles in tackles in the preseason opener and is already breathing down the necks of Jaquiski Tartt and K’Von Wallace when it comes to a potential roster spot. Jonathan Gannon sung his praises in a recent press conference and if the former Blue Rider and back up his preseason debut with another solid effort, it could go a long way into securing his future with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Ugo Amadi

The Eagles have an absolutely stacked DB room as it is, so bringing another player into the mix was beyond confusing, even if it was a way to offset the departure of J.J Arcega-Whiteside. It’s a struggle to get corners game time as it is, but there has to be a potential role for him here, and all signs point toward special teams. This is due to his tenacious tackling ability and aggressive mindset. Keep an eye out for #32 on opposing kick returns.

Jason Huntley/ Kennedy Brooks

Miles Sanders may have a minor injury and the dots connecting Kareem Hunt and the Eagles just keep popping up. Huntley looked good in the preseason opener, but it’s likely himself and Brooks will divide the carries between them again this weekend and it’s a fantastic opportunity to prove that they can fill the ‘Jordan Howard’ hole that is at the center of this backfield.

Reid Sinnett

I was surprised not to see Carson Strong in action against the Jets, but Reid Sinnett did more than hold his own. He’s got all the measurables a QB coach could dream of and as far as the eye test goes, he looked composed, spread the ball around evenly, and didn’t really take any uneccesary risks. That’s all you want in a developmental game manager. If he can build on that base this weekend, it would go a long way in really securing his spot on the depth chart.

Grant Calcaterra

The rookie tight end has had a bumpy summer battling injuries, but he exploded back onto the practice scene on Friday. The Eagles are crying out for TE depth behind Dallas Goedert and this is the perfect opportunity for Calcaterra to burst out of the gate and make an impact.
