Flyers can’t solve Rangers shot blockers

The Rangers blocked a remarkable 28 Flyers’ shots Tuesday night.

The Flyers also had 20 shots not reach the net against New York in the 4-1 loss, in addition to the 32 shots on goal flung at Henrik Lundqvist by the Flyers offense.

Clearly, it’s a problem of quality versus quantity, and the Flyers need to improve their looks at the net.

“Quicker puck movement and a little more decpetion,” Flyers coach Craig Berube mentioned as possible solutions. “You can’t just one time it all the time you, have to fake it and get them moving through. You have Simmonds and Hartnell at the net, big guys who are good with their sticks. They have done a good job all year of finding pucks and putting them in.”

Some of the blame falls on the Flyers attack. But the Rangers defense deserves credit as well.

“Their D, they go on one knee a lot to cover more of the net,” Mark Streit said, “but thats an opportunity too, if they go down on one knee they can’t move.”
