Flyers look for third straight win Tuesday against Blackhawks

The last time the Blackhawks won a game in Philadelphia it was on June 9, 2010. Die-hard Flyers fans know that day very well — the day Chicago clinched the Stanley Cup in the Wells Fargo Center.

It’s four years later, and the Blackhawks have added another Stanley Cup title, while the Flyers have struggled to compete in the post season.

But both the Flyers and Blackhawks are in similar position heading into Tuesday’s 7:30 game. Each is in second-place in their respective division.

It’s the Flyers who are positioned to have home-ice advantage, and the Flyers who are 9-2-1 since the start of February after a sweep of the first place Penguins this past weekend.

“I think our team will get confidence from this,” coach Craig Berube said of the Flyers’ successful weekend. “Anytime you come in and you can beat Pittsburgh twice, it’s a big boost.”

Claude Giroux is playing the best hockey of the season, and arguably his career, with 12 points in seven games this March.

The Flyers’ special teams are equally hot — they shut down the Penguins (0-for-9) with their penalty kill unit and went 3-for-7 with a man advantage against Pittsburgh.

Starting goalie Steve Mason however, hopes to buck a negative trend. He is 0-6-1 against Chicago since 2011.
