Tye McGinn got his shot and he’s running with it.
The rookie is proving to be a valuable asset to the Flyers despite being called up just a few weeks ago. McGinn already has three goals and two assists (five points) in just 11 games.
On Tuesday night, the humble McGinn won a fight and scored the eventual game-winning goal in a 3-2 win over Winnipeg.
“It’s coming along, just trying to do my best and play each game like it’s my last,” McGinn said. “Work hard when I’m out there — you know, it’s the NHL, so you can’t get too comfortable.”
Maybe he’s not getting too comfortable, but his coach is getting used to having him in the lineup.
“He’s been such a nice addition to our lineup,” said Peter Laviolette. “He’s big, he’s strong, he finishes his checks, he fights once in awhile, scores goals, sticks up for his teammates — all things you look for when a kid comes up, all positive contributions to our lineup.”
The Flyers battle the New Jersey Devils Friday night.
