Paul Holmgren wasn’t quite done with free agency after all.
The Flyers GM has signed restricted free agent Shea Weber to a 14-year offer sheet worth more than $100 million, according to reports. The Flyers confirmed the report Thursday, but wouldn’t disclose terms. The signing was first reported by TSN in Canada.
Weber, 26, is one of the best defenseman in the NHL and has drawn comparisons to a young Chris Pronger. The three-time All-Star has 99 goals and 164 assists in his seven-year career.
Weber’s current team, Nashville, has seven days to match the offer. If the Predators do not match it, the Flyers would have to surrender four first-round draft picks.
