Happy birthday, New Jersey. The Garden State is celebrating its 350th yearand local brewer Flying Fish, in Somerdale, is toasting it with a celebratory beer. NJ350 Anniversary Ale will hit shelves in early April, available in 750ml bottles and on draft in the tri-state area.
The brewer is describing the light brown beer as a historic-style English stock ale, made with blackstrap molasses and finished with American hops including Simcoe, Centennial and Cluster (we love the odd names hops have). It will have a pine-y smell, evoking the Pine Barrens. Flying Fish founder Gene Muller says the recipe was concocted with input from New Jersey beer lovers.
