Former lacrosse coach charged with making false reports of sex abuse

A former high school Lacrosse coach fired last year didn’t just get mad, but he tried to get even, prosecutors claim.

Tim Udinski, 43, has been charged with harassment and stalking for allegedly making false reports of sexual abuse against two coaches at Lansdale Catholic High School shortly after the school fired him last year. Officials said Udinski was the subject of unfounded accusations while at the school, but was eventually let go for heated exchanges with players and staff.

Authorities claim Udinksi began sending anonymous e-mails to the Archdiocese of Philadelphia last October accusing the football coach and the lacrosse coach of soliciting players for sex. He also accused the principal of covering up the so-called abuse.

The Archdiocese reported the allegations to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, which launched an investigation. After interviewing more than 90 people and executing several search warrants, investigators said they concluded the claims were unfounded and traced the anonymous e-mails to Udinski, who allegedly confessed to the ruse because he was furious with the school.

Prosecutors said the hoax cost taxpayers about $8,250. Bail for Udinski has been set at $25,000.
