Forward options abound for Flyers at NHL Draft

The one drawback that comes with contending for a Stanley Cup is not getting too high of a first-round draft pick. A necessary sacrifice the Philadelphia Flyers are currently contending with as they pick 23rd at the 2020 NHL Draft on Tuesday night (7 p.m. ET, NBCSN).

The Eastern Conference’s No. 1 seed entering the playoffs fell short in the second round, falling in seven games to the New York Islanders.

One of their most glaring needs is scoring depth, especially when their top playmakers ranging from Claude Giroux to Jakub Voracek, to Sean Couturier, were limited like they were against New York.

They’ll have an opportunity to try and find a diamond in the rough of sorts at the draft, though they’ll miss out on the bonafide stars-in-the-making like Alexis Lafreniere and Quinton Byfield, expected to go first and second to the Rangers and Kings.

Regardless, there will be a decently deep crop of forwards that the Flyers will have to choose from.

Here are just a few that might be available when the Flyers are on the clock:
