Four festivals and block parties not to miss this weekend, Oct. 3-4

Pace yourself: There are three not-to-miss festivals going on Saturday, and one more for the family Sunday.

Midtown Village Fall Festival
Saturday, noon to 8 p.m.
13th and Chestnut streets
Pay as you go, 215-670-4323
www.midtownvillagephilly.org
This lively fall fest is back for its 10th year, this time with eight beer gardens, four stages for live music, and tasty treats like those elusive budino pops from the chefs at Barbuzzo. Stop by BRU Fall Fest, happening within the largest festival, for more bands and DJs, craft brews (and self-serve taps!) and German food. As usual, the organizers are expecting thousands of people to show up, so plan for a crowd.

Philly AIDSThrift
Fifth and Bainbridge streets
Pay as you go, 215-922-3186

Bloktoberfest
Saturday, noon to 9 p.m.
South Street between Broad and 18th streets

South Street is being taken over by thirsty partiers — which doesn’t sound like much of a change, but trust us, you want to check out this giant block party/celebration of fall beers, including pumpkin brews and ciders. There will be plenty of food to soak up all that alcohol, plus live music from Beach Slang, Cold Fronts, Kate Faust and more.

Family Arts Festival
Sunday, noon to 4 p.m.

The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts is hosting an outdoor party for the whole family, with performances from arts and culture groups all over the city, including School of Rock Philadelphia and The Junk Jam Bad. Kids can also make art projects and join a scavenger hunt.
