4 injured, including PECO worker, in North Philadelphia shooting

Four people, including a PECO employee, were struck when shots were fired Wednesday night in North Philadelphia, authorities said.

The shooting occurred at around 10 p.m. on the 600 block of W. York Street, according to police.

Investigators said the PECO worker, a 34-year-old man, was shot twice in his buttocks. Officers rushed him to Temple University Hospital, where he was treated for nonlife-threatening injuries. A company spokesperson said he was released from the hospital overnight.

A 33-year-old man was shot twice in his left shoulder, and a 17-year-old boy sustained gunshot wounds to both of his thighs, police said. The fourth victim, a 37-year-old man, was struck in his rib cage, authorities said.

All three men were listed in stable condition following the shooting, according to investigators.

PECO, in a statement, said the employee was in the area working on a crossarm, which carries overhead electrical wires, when he was hit by a “stray bullet.”

No one was arrested in the immediate aftermath of the incident.
