Four killed, 10 injured in weekend violence

At least four people were killed and 10 others injured as a result of violence over the weekend in Philadelphia.

In Point Breeze, a man was found stabbed to death just after 7:30 a.m. Sunday in a vacant lot on the 1600 block of S. 20th Street, police said.

The man, described only as in his late 30s to early 40s, had a wound in his lower right side, authorities said.

Just before 12:30 a.m. Sunday, a 21-year-old man was shot twice in the face inside a house on the 7800 block of Williams Avenue in the Cedarbrook section of Northwest Philadelphia. Police said he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Not far away, in East Mount Airy, a 21-year-old man was shot four times in the head and chest at around 9:30 p.m. Saturday on the 8200 block of Lowber Street, authorities said.

Officers who responded to the shooting rushed him to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he died a short time later.

Two men were struck by gunfire just after 8 p.m. Saturday on the 5000 block of N. Hutchinson Street in Logan, authorities said.

Both victims were shot multiple times throughout the body, investigators said, and one of the men died at Einstein at 9:30 p.m. The other victim is listed in critical condition, according to police. Authorities did not provide their ages.

In North Philadelphia, a 40-year-old man was shot once in the neck at around 10 p.m. Saturday on the 2200 block of N. 12th Street. Temple University campus police rushed him to the hospital, where he is in critical condition.

Investigators recovered a gun on the street near the scene of the incident.

Just before 9 p.m. Saturday, a 33-year-old man was shot once in the left side of the chest on the 1000 block of S. 18th Street in the Graduate Hospital neighborhood, police said. He was taken to Penn Presbyterian Hospital in critical condition.

A 38-year-old man showed up at Einstein after he was shot in the abdomen at around 5:30 p.m. Saturday on the 1600 block of 67th Avenue in West Oak Lane. Authorities said he is also in critical condition.

Two men were hospitalized after a shooting at around 4 p.m. Saturday inside a home on Conestoga Street, just south of Market Street in West Philadelphia.

Authorities said a 54-year-old man was shot in the left knee, left calf, hip and buttocks. He was rushed to Penn Presbyterian and listed in critical condition, police said.

The other victim, a 24-year-old man, was shot twice in the left thigh and suffered a graze wound to his hand. His injuries are not life-threatening, according to police.

About an hour earlier, just before 3 p.m. Saturday, a 22-year-old man was shot in the left elbow on the corner of 56th and Pemberton streets, also in West Philadelphia. He is listed in stable condition, authorities said.

Investigators said a 35-year-old man was shot at around 11:30 a.m. Saturday while on the porch of a house on the 700 block of Wynnewood Road in West Philadelphia. He arrived at Bryn Mawr Hospital in a private vehicle, and his injuries are not life-threatening.

At around 5:45 a.m. Saturday, a man was shot three times in the buttocks and twice in the wrist near the corner of Germantown and W. Hunting Park avenues in Nicetown, police said. He showed up at Temple University Hospital and is in stable condition.

In Kensington, a 37-year-old man was shot at least three times just before 2 a.m. Saturday on the 3000 block of N. Water Street, authorities said.

He suffered wounds to his groin, thigh and right ankle and is in critical condition at Temple University Hospital, according to police.

Authorities reported no arrests in connection with any of the incidents.
