Four people were killed and four others wounded, including a 4-year-old boy, in separate shootings Saturday and Sunday in Philadelphia.
Police said the boy was taken to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia after being shot once in the right foot just after 7:45 p.m. Saturday inside a house on the 2000 of N. 32nd Street in Strawberry Mansion.
He is expected to physically recover. Investigators did not provide details about what led to the shooting, and police did not report any arrests.
On Sunday, at around 12:30 p.m., a man was shot eight times on the front porch of a house on the 500 block of N. Paxon Street in the Mill Creek neighborhood of West Philadelphia.
Police said he was rushed to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in critical condition. He died just before 2:15 p.m., according to authorities.
A 34-year-old man died after being shot at least 14 times at around 4:45 a.m. Sunday on the 3700 block of Aspen Street in the Mantua section of West Philadelphia, authorities said. No one has been arrested in connection with the killing.
In Frankford, police were called to the 4200 block of Salem Street at around 6:15 p.m. Saturday after a man was shot in the head. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.
Earlier in the day, at around 3:15 p.m., a 26-year-old woman was killed by a gunshot wound to the chest on the 5900 block of A Street in Kensington, police said. Authorities made an arrest and recovered a gun, but no further information was released.
A 29-year-old man is expected to survive after being stabbed four times at around 3 a.m. Sunday on the 3500 block of Kensington Avenue in Harrowgate, according to authorities. No one was apprehended in the immediate aftermath of the stabbing.
Investigators said a 56-year-old man was shot twice in the abdomen during an attempted robbery just after 10:30 a.m. Saturday on the 1700 block of Blavis Street in Nicetown.
Officers took him to Einstein Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition, according to police.
An argument led to a shooting at around 1:30 a.m. Saturday on the 6600 block of N. 13th Street in East Oak Lane. Authorities said a 35-year-old man was shot in the left leg by someone he knew.
The alleged shooter was arrested and a gun was recovered, police said. The victim was treated at Einstein and released.
Less than an hour earlier, at around 12:45 a.m. Saturday, a 56-year-old man was shot in the groin following an altercation on the 4600 block of Locust Street in West Philadelphia.
He showed up at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was in stable condition, authorities said.
In other news, detectives are investigating a hit-and-run that occurred just after 10:30 p.m. Saturday at the corner of 3rd Street and Oregon Avenue in South Philadelphia.
A female pedestrian, whose age was not provided by police, was apparently hit by a vehicle that fled the area, investigators said. She was rushed to Jefferson University Hospital in critical condition.
Authorities did not release a description of the suspect’s vehicle.
