Delicious ways to celebrate the Fourth of July in Philly

The Fourth of July is finally here, and to celebrate in many sweet and savory ways, here are some themed dishes, drinks and more at Philadelphia restaurants and bars in 2024.

Jansen

This Mt.Airy spot is serving up a limited-time deal for the holiday. On Thursday, July 4, Jansen will be offering the Beach Boil for Two, aka a take-out assortment of seafood and proper accouterments prepared by Chef Jansen and the restaurant’s team. The special includes one whole lobster, eight jumbo shrimp, corn on the cob, sausage, old bay potatoes, and house-blended herb butter for $125 per order. All you have to do is pick it up, pop it in the oven for 15 minutes and enjoy.

Brooklyn Dumpling Shop Philadelphia

Both Brooklyn Dumpling Shop locations in the city will be offering a deal for the Fourth of July. On Thursday, locals can score 7 dumplings for $4 with flavors spanning bacon cheeseburger, mac’n cheese, apple pie and more. The South Street location will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 4, and the University City location will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Red Owl Tavern

The popular Old City bar and restaurant is offering a few different ways to celebrate the holiday on its menu. First, two new themed cocktails have been added to the menu: The Declaration of Spritz ($16),is a strawberry-infused Aperol with Prosecco, soda, lemon, pea flower, and an elderflower mixed gin float, while the Watermelon Rickey ($17) is crafted with gin, watermelon, lime, Sicilian lemon Fever-Tree soda, and a Pimm’s float. These cocktails will be available starting July 4 through the weekend. 

Red Owl Tavern is also launching a new menu service titled Smoked Out Saturdays, and it begins this weekend on July 6. As a release notes, the event will feature a rotating lineup of BBQ specialties available from 10 a.m. until sold out every Saturday through Sept. 7. The kickoff bash held this Saturday will feature a Brisket Sandwich ($19), served with crispy fried onions, jalapeños, and ‘Bama White BBQ Sauce, plus, families can enjoy a complimentary kids’ hot dog meal with the purchase of any BBQ selection. Additionally, an all-beef uncured hot dog will be available for $10, served with fries and ketchup.

Patchwork

This Center City venue located inside of the Hyatt Centric Hotel is offering a special cocktail for the red, white and blue holiday. On July 4, Philadelphians can sip on a frozen Firecracker Cocktail ($16) composed of vodka, Meyer Lemon, Cherry and Curaçao. It’s meant to pay homage to the nostalgic Firecracker ice pops, and will be available at the restaurant/bar until July 7.

Uptown Beer Garden

Uptown is celebrating the Fourth of July in Philly with their own grill-out, available from 2 p.m. until midnight on Thursday. The menu will feature $3 hotdogs and $6 hamburgers, plus a frozen berry daiquiri dressed in red, white, and blue.

While there, Philadelphians can also play lawn games or watch the Phillies on the big screen once the game starts at 2:20 p.m.
