On two Saturdays this July, the Lovett Library will transform into a hands-on science playground, as young minds from across Philadelphia dive into the world of STEM at Stevie The Inventor’s free Summer STEM Camp — a high-energy, curiosity-fueled event designed to spark innovation and imagination.
Created and led by local entrepreneur and educator Steve Stotts — known as Stevie The Inventor — this community-centered camp will take place Saturday, July 12, from noon to 3 p.m., and Saturday, July 19, from 2 to 5 p.m.
“Not every child has the financial means to attend camp or participate in STEM programs,” says Stotts. “This camp is my way of removing that barrier. Every child deserves access to hands-on learning experiences that can spark their imagination and unlock their potential.”
Throughout the two weekends, students ages 7 to 12 will participate in a variety of interactive, hands-on STEM activities using everyday household materials. From building mini nanobots to paper bridge engineering challenges and balloon rocket experiments, each child will leave with new knowledge and excitement about STEM fields.
Registration is open now on Eventbrite, but spaces are limited. Families are encouraged to sign up early to secure a spot. Lovett Library is located at 6945 Germantown Avenue.
